For nine decades, Onings Holland has been bringing vibrant colors to the world through its high-quality bulbs. The Dutch bulb exporter, which started as a small, local business, has now expanded its reach to over 50 countries. With a wide assortment of bulbs, including lilies, tulips, irises, gladioli, hyacinths, and amaryllises, Onings Holland supplies these with great passion and dedication.
From June 3 to 6, the international Dutch Lily Days and the 90th anniversary of Onings Holland are in the spotlight. During this period, Onings Holland will receive thousands of flowering lilies, and every response to these lilies will contribute to the Lily League® ranking.
Debate on Lily Varieties
Previous editions of the Dutch Lily Days have sparked much debate on the popularity and potential of different lily varieties. Growers, exporters, florists, and consumers gather to discuss which lilies are available today and which ones are ready for the future. The Lily League, an initiative by Onings, creates a top 50 list based on votes cast during and around this four-day event.
Sustainable Growing Methods
The Dutch Lily Days offers a wide variety of lilies to choose from, with special attention to sustainable growing methods. These methods aim to make the cultivation of lily bulbs future-proof. The event is an excellent opportunity to check and compare all varieties and determine which ones deserve a spot in this year’s Lily League. Even varieties not displayed in the Onings greenhouse have a chance to make it to the top 50.
Voting Process
Voting for the Lily League has already begun. Visitors can cast their votes among thousands of flowering lilies in the test greenhouse of Onings, where forms are available for filling in. For those unable to visit Onings during the Dutch Lily Days, an online voting tool is available. The Onings Holland website features an online database with hundreds of lily varieties. By selecting a variety, users will be directed to the product page with a voting button.
