Garden lovers will have the chance to explore ten beautiful and diverse gardens during the annual Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, 2025. The self-guided tour runs from 1 to 5 p.m. both days and takes place in downtown Frederick and Baker Park.
For over 20 years, this popular event has attracted more than 800 visitors each year, offering a rare glimpse behind the gates of private and public gardens. The tour features a mix of elegant, creative, and whimsical landscapes, showcasing the unique gardening styles of Frederick residents.
The 10 featured gardens include:
- Federated Charities Nonprofit Center at 22 S. Market Street
- The Garden of Leslie & Daniel Cardenas at 221 E. Church Street
- Heritage Garden at Heritage Frederick, 24 E. Church Street
- The Ordinary Hen Secret Garden, 228 N. Market Street
- The Garden of Angela & Mark Mayer, 19 W. 2nd Street
- Joseph Dill Baker Memorial Carillon, 200 Carroll Parkway
- The Garden of Bruce & Judy D’Agostino, 201 Dill Avenue
- The Garden of Jane & Robert Lietterini, 11 Kline Boulevard
- The Garden of Jerry & Shelley Johnson, 9 Kline Boulevard
- The Garden of Renee & Marvin Ausherman (High Glen Gardens), 6450 Christophers Crossing
Tickets, priced at $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event, grant access to all gardens on both days. Tickets are available online through Eventbrite or in person at the Frederick County Visitor Center. Visitors are advised that strollers and pets are not permitted, and the tour is recommended for ages 12 and older.
In addition to the gardens, ticket holders can enjoy discounts at downtown Frederick shops and restaurants. A Hospitality Center located at 101 N. Court Street offers light refreshments and restrooms for guests.
Parking is available near the gardens, but visitors should expect to park multiple times due to the spread-out locations.
The Beyond the Garden Gates Garden Tour is organized by Celebrate Frederick, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to community events in the city.
