SDF has been selected to supply the software control for the automatic cultivation system at Gebr. Houtepen, a location of Kwekerij de Groot in Prinsenbeek, the Netherlands. This advanced system will enable the automatic control of cultivation gutters with shuttles when plants are moved. It will handle a range of tasks, including feeding, widening, sorting, and delivering, all of which can be managed through SDF Horti Software.
The collaboration between SDF and Kwekerij de Groot involves not only the integration with SDF’s sister company HAWE but also with other parties such as WPS. This comprehensive approach ensures seamless automation and control of the greenhouse operations.
Corné Houtepen of Kwekerij de Groot shared insights on the decision-making process: “After an extensive orientation, we concluded that SDF is the best party to optimally automate our greenhouse. Our parent company, Kwekerij J. De Groot, has considerable experience with SDF in order processing, and we already use SDF’s Greenhouse Manager to control the cultivation tables. We were also aware that SDF can control delivery buffers with automatic chutes. We were able to set up the specialized software in a way that it will work optimally for our cultivation system with gutters.”
Looking ahead, Kwekerij de Groot plans to enhance the system further by adding automatic planning and the possibility of flower treatment. “SDF offers all this from a solid basic package that works at lightning speed and can be operated with ease. This will give us the utmost efficiency we are looking for to provide our customers with the best plants. We are ready for the future with SDF Horti Software,” said Houtepen.
