The 2025 Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts features a stunning display of 12 rose varieties from Star Roses and Plants, celebrating the event’s 60th anniversary.
Landscape designer Chia-Ming Ro of Coastal Homestead led the installation, showcasing roses from the Knock Out, Drift, and Bloomables collections.
Highlighted varieties include the Coral Knock Out, known for its vibrant coral blooms that intensify in hot, humid climates, and the Double Knock Out, prized for its classic full flowers and enhanced winter hardiness.
The Pink Double Knock Out offers bright pink blooms with superior drought tolerance.
Among the Drift roses, Peach Drift stands out with its prolific soft peach flowers and strong disease resistance, while Popcorn Drift features buttery yellow blooms that fade to creamy white and bloom continuously throughout the season.
Tree roses such as Apricot Candy and Dee-lish add height and fragrance to the garden, with Dee-lish recognized for its verbena-citrus scent and European awards for disease resistance. Other notable tree roses include the iconic Iceberg and the fragrant Princesse Charlene de Monaco, valued for its cut-flower quality.
Romantica Ball Gown dazzles with lush pink blooms boasting over 100 petals per flower and a complex fragrance, while Yves Piaget combines old-fashioned form, rich color, and continuous blooming, named after the famed Swiss watchmaker.
The rose garden is part of the larger 60th Pasadena Showcase House event held at the historic Bauer Estate & Gardens, a 1928 Monterey Colonial estate renowned for its architecture and expansive gardens. The showcase runs through May 18, 2025, supporting local arts and music programs.
Visitors can explore the estate’s meticulously designed interiors and outdoor spaces, including the vibrant rose garden that blends shrub and tree roses into a breathtaking display, exemplifying the latest trends in garden design.
