The hills of Ooty are once again blooming in full splendor as the legendary Ooty Flower Show kicks off, enchanting plant and flower lovers from across the country.
This year’s event transforms the Government Botanical Garden into a vibrant floral wonderland filled with artistic marvels crafted entirely from flowers.
A showstopper among the displays is a majestic replica of Rajaraja Cholan’s royal palace, intricately built with over 200,000 carnations and marigolds.
Measuring an impressive 75 feet wide and 25 feet high, the structure stands as a testament to both floral artistry and cultural pride.
Adding to the floral fantasy is a stunning eight-foot-high crane composed of 50,400 flowers, alongside imaginative installations of an elephant, swing, royal seat, selfie point, and a cascading floral waterfall.
The entire garden brims with color and fragrance, enhanced by the addition of 30,000 new flowering shrubs placed among the existing plants.
Beyond the flowers, visitors are treated to cultural performances by the Thodar, Kothar, Badukar, and Tibetan communities, highlighting the rich heritage of the region. Various departments—including horticulture, agriculture, forest, tourism, and tribal affairs—have also set up informative and interactive stalls.
Open until May 25, this year’s flower show is a celebration of flora, creativity, and tradition, offering an immersive sensory experience unlike any other.
