Stevens Point Plants Fruit Trees To Brighten Community Gardens

by Anna

In celebration of Arbor Day, Stevens Point planted eight fruit trees—including apple, cherry, and peach—in the community garden opposite Mead Park.

This marks the city’s 44th year as a Tree City USA and its fourth tree-planting event.

The Stevens Point Forestry Team and Golden Sands Resource, Conservation and Development collaborated on the planting to make fruit trees more accessible and visible to residents.

Mayor Mike Wiza expressed hope that the community will nurture these trees as carefully as their own gardens.

This initiative also supports local efforts to address food insecurity by providing fresh fruit to those in need, combining beauty and sustainability in the heart of the city.
