Wageningen University & Research (WUR) Greenhouse Horticulture and Svensson have formalized their long-term partnership through a collaboration agreement. The signing ceremony was attended by Monique van Wordragen from WUR and Marcel Nouel from Svensson.
WUR Greenhouse Horticulture is renowned for its state-of-the-art research facilities and expertise in horticulture, greenhouse climate, plant physiology, and research on light, crop protection, and fertilization. Svensson, a leading company in the development of innovative screen and climate solutions for greenhouse horticulture, will work closely with WUR to advance their shared goals.
The partnership aims to jointly research and optimize the application of climate screens in greenhouse horticulture. The focus will be on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these screens to enhance the overall performance of greenhouse horticulture operations.
WUR and Svensson have previously collaborated on several innovative projects to improve greenhouse efficiency and plant growth. One notable project was the “Winterlichtkas,” where a prototype Luxous energy screen from Svensson was installed at an angle rather than flat. This design modification allowed more natural light to enter the greenhouse, resulting in enhanced plant growth and energy efficiency.
Another significant collaboration was the Grip on Light project, which focused on optimizing light conditions for potted plants. Svensson’s light-diffusing Harmony climate screens were used to allow more light to reach the plants, supporting their development and overall health.
Through this formalized partnership, WUR and Svensson will continue to drive innovation and improvements in greenhouse horticulture, leveraging their combined expertise and resources.
