This Saturday, June 14, McKee Botanical Garden celebrates its 20th annual Waterlily Celebration, inviting everyone to revel in aquatic beauty.
The event highlights McKee’s waterlily collection, recognized as a Collection of Excellence by the International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society.
McKee is one of only eight gardens globally to receive this honor. Visitors can explore ponds and water features showcasing magnificent blooms.
Local artists and photographers are invited to capture the waterlilies’ beauty, with photo contest submissions displayed in the Hall of Giants. Aquatic gardeners Lila and Gloria Teague will host demonstrations on waterlily cultivation.
Waterlilies have been significant to the garden since 1926. The celebration includes family activities, plant vendors, and handmade baskets.
Key locations for viewing waterlilies include the Main Pond, North Pond, Main Jungle Trail Pond, Children’s Garden Pond, Duck Pond, Watery Maze, and Reservoir/Bamboo Pavilion.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m., with admission free for members, $20 for adults, and $15 for children.
