Plants are emerging as one of the UK’s most popular Father’s Day gifts, according to new data from online plant retailer Patch Plants. The company reported a 21% increase in plant sales as Father’s Day gifts in 2024 compared to 2023. Searches for “plants for Father’s Day” also reached a three-year high, with 4,300 searches in June 2024, marking a 23% rise from June 2023. This trend is expected to continue growing in 2025.
Patch Plants revealed that the best-selling plants as Father’s Day gifts last year included olive trees, lemon trees, peace lilies, Chinese money plants, and snake plants. Nick Schulman, Chief Commercial Officer at Patch Plants, explained that plants are increasingly recognized as meaningful and lasting gifts. “Olive trees symbolize peace and longevity, a beautiful message for Father’s Day. Lemon trees bring a burst of Mediterranean sunshine indoors, and peace lilies are known for their low maintenance and calming presence,” he said. These plants offer a long-lasting connection between a child and their father.
