British Flowers Week is currently underway from June 16 to 22, an annual celebration that brings British-grown cut flowers and foliage into the spotlight. This event, originally founded by New Covent Garden Market, has been a significant platform for the UK’s cut flower industry.
Since its inception in 2013, British Flowers Week has been a champion for the UK’s cut flower industry, highlighting the work of growers, wholesalers, and florists who specialise in British-grown flowers. After a decade of success under New Covent Garden Flower Market, the event is now entering a new chapter.
Flowers from the Farm, the organisation that has been at the forefront of supporting small-scale British flower growers, has taken the helm of British Flowers Week. Founded by Gill Hodgson with the vision of reviving and promoting UK-grown flowers, Flowers from the Farm has expanded into a thriving network of independent flower businesses. The organisation supplies retail customers, florists, and event professionals nationwide. Gill Hodgson’s remarkable contribution to the industry was recently acknowledged with an MBE award.
As Flowers from the Farm transitions into a forward-looking trade association, it is dedicated to enhancing the market presence of British-grown flowers. This year’s British Flowers Week, themed “Flowers For The Future,” will run from June 16 to 22. The event will feature a range of vibrant activities, including flower flashes, pop-ups, window displays, farm tours, collaborations, and sustainable floristry workshops. Growers, wholesalers, and retailers are invited to join in the celebrations and contribute to the future of British flowers.
