Undergraduate students at Harvard organized a meaningful display featuring over 800 white flowers, symbolizing solidarity with international students.
Spearheaded by international students Matas Kudarauskas ’25 and Ida Kozuchowska ’25, the initiative raised $500 from the Harvard International Relations Council and the Harvard Undergraduate Woodbridge International Society to purchase the flowers.
Volunteers distributed the white flowers across dining halls for students to wear during a procession, using the blooms as a symbol of innocence and unity amid recent challenges faced by international students. Kudarauskas explained that the white flowers represent the feeling of being treated like hostages in the current situation.
This floral display comes in response to the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement last Thursday to revoke Harvard’s eligibility to enroll international students—a decision temporarily blocked by a court order. A judge is set to rule on extending this injunction during today’s ceremony.
